I really love everything I've gotten from Alder, which includes 4 pairs of the Open Air Pant and 1 pair of their Surf's Up Shorts. I was looking forward to these to have something more casual and in the nice Pine Green color.
Despite having a size chart identical to the Open Air Pant, the waistband on these is visibly a size smaller (photos comparing the two below for reference). This means the thighs of the pants are also super tight, making me unable to wear them.
I did get them during a sitewide sale so I am not sure how Alder can assist, but it honestly looks like a manufacturing error. I emailed them on 07/09/24 and still haven't received a response (writing this on 07/26/24). I sent additional follow ups on 07/16/24 and 07/23/24 with no response to date. I don't want to send any additional emails and clog up their email queue, but I don't know what else to do. Didn't really want to write a negative review but the size discrepancy is wild and not having a customer service response after 13 business days is pretty disappointing for a brand I otherwise love supporting (and with a return window of 45 calendar days quickly running out).
If you are interested in these pants, I would recommend ordering them one size up. Of the reviews currently posted, only two mention them being snug (and again, the size chart has a waist measurement identical to the Open Air Pants).
Hopefully Alder will respond to me after this review and this is a one-off experience with their garment quality and customer service.
This is my third pair of the same style but different color. They are soooo comfortable!!I Alder apparel has the BEST pants ever!! I have 20+ already. You won't regret it!!
Everything alder makes is always perfect for me! These pants are so comfortable, lightweight, and stylish! I love how you can make the bottoms of each leg synched for more of a jogger like style, for looks and to tuck into socks to avoid ticks! As a person with a bigger body, I appreciate how well made the pants are- I don't feel like I am going to bust out of them every time I squat! 10/10

These pants are nice and light and are great for keeping the sun off while you're out and about. As a curvier lady I appreciate the stretch. The legs are quite wide and they feel roomy and comfortable while still looking like a nicer pair of pants. Great for both hiking and running to the grocery store. I'd also wear these out on the water. They seem well made. Highly recommend!

I've been wanting to try these pants for a while, but I didn't like the colours. I really wanted black cargo pants or another dark colour. However, the light blue was on sale, so I decided to try them out. I'm glad I did because I recently broke my hand and have needed a pair of pants that I can just pull up with one hand! I'm still not wild about the colour, but I like the fit with the wider legs. I have a small waist and thick thighs, and though I own two pairs of Alder's Open Air pants and a really like them, they are so tight on my thighs that I can't use the side pockets. I'm glad Alder is making pants with wider legs now. Just please make them in darker colours!
